Namak Gosht


  • 3 tbsp  green papaya paste
  • 2 potato cubed with skin
  • 1 kg goat meat
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 4 green chillies julienne
  • Some chopped cilantro leaves
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1tsp nigella seed powder
  • 1 tbsp cracked black pepper
  • Some whole garam masala (1 cardamom, a pinch of fenugreek seeds, 2 cloves, a big piece of cinnamon stick, few cumin seeds)’
  • 1tsp ginger paste
  • Some ginger julienne, 4 green chillies (crushed) - (for garnish)
  • Some salt
  • 2 cups yogurt
  • 1 tsp turmeric

In a pressure cooker heat oil and fry onions, whole garam masala and ginger paste for 5 – 10 minutes or until the onions are lightly brown. Add potato, meat and stir fry. When the moisture evaporates, add yogurt and other spices and give it pressure for 30 minutes on low medium heat.
-Now very carefully open the lid and stir and simmer. Add some water if needed.
-Now add garnish  and serve hot with nan or tandoori roti.
